The concept of the Nebraska Heart Institute originated with the desire of the founding physicians to develop both their own range of services as well as the ability to provide these services to communities throughout the region. With this vision of expanding cardiac care services; the Nebraska Heart Institute was established in 1987.
Today, the Nebraska Heart Institute delivers leading-edge services to much of Nebraska and northern Kansas through a network of satellite offices and affiliated hospital-based clinics. NHI draws patients from throughout the Midwest including Colorado, Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and South Dakota. NHI provides unparalleled cardiac, vascular, thoracic, and transplant services to the region.
These services include consultative cardiology; nuclear cardiology; electrophysiology; cardiac catheterization; and cardiothoracic, vascular, transplant, and mechanical-assist device surgery. In fact, the skilled physicians of NHI annually perform more diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures than any other cardiac program in Nebraska including more than 5,000 cardiac catheterizations, 1,500 interventions and 900 open-heart procedures.
