Tom Appleget, RN, is Nebraska Heart’s Invasive Cardiology Director. In this capacity, Tom oversees the clinical and administrative operations of Nebraska Heart Institute’s cardiac catheterization laboratories in Good Samaritan Hospital of Kearney, Saint Francis Medical Center of Grand Island, Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center of Lincoln and Nebraska Heart Hospital of Lincoln. Combined Nebraska Heart Institute and CHI Nebraska have nine Cardiac Catheterization labs and one Hybrid Operating Suite with over 45 specialized Cath lab nurses and techs.
Tom joined the Nebraska Heart Institute in 2001 as a member of its outpatient cath lab team and in 2003 became expediter for the Lincoln-based Labs. Prior to assuming his current position in 2012 , Tom was named Team Leader for Nebraska Heart’s Cath Labs , and then Director of Clink and Cath lab operations. Before joining the Nebraska Heart Institute, Tom worked in a community-based hospital as a progressive care nurse. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Nursing School in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Tom and his wife, Angie, are natives of Fremont, Nebraska and currently live in Lincoln with their three children. Tom’s father is also a member of the Nebraska Heart staff.
