Dr. Gina Mentzer received her medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
She then completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and a cardiology fellowship and heart-failure subspecialty training at The Ohio State University.

She specializes in heart failure, mechanical circulatory support and cardiac transplantation with emphasis in imaging and invasive cardiology. She also evaluates patients with needs in general cardiology, prevention, valvular heart disease, women’s cardiovascular care, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiovascular support in pregnancy and postpartum. Dr. Mentzer also serves as a provider for the Women’s Heart Disease Specialty Clinic and an investigator for clinical research trials.
Dr. Mentzer primarily sees patients at the NHI Clinic in Lincoln as well as the Heart Hospital.
Dr. Mentzer is a native Nebraskan who grew up on a farm near Litchfield, NE, a small town of 270 people north of Kearney. She is one of five children and enjoys being back in Nebraska with family and friends. In her spare time, Dr. Mentzer enjoys running, horseback riding, the outdoors and spending time with her husband and children.
