The spread of seasonal and H1N1 influenza has prompted Nebraska Heart and other healthcare providers in our community and across the country to take special precautions to protect patients, staff and visitors.
Beginning Monday, November 2, visitation to Nebraska Heart clinical areas is restricted to those 15 years of age and older. In Lincoln, first floor waiting areas and the Cafeteria in the Heart Hospital are accessible to those under 15 years of age as well as the first floor lobby of the Medical Office Building. In Columbus, Grand Island, Hastings and North Platte offices, those under 15 years of age will be restricted to the patient check-in lobby.
Due to the challenge of determining who may be infected with influenza, this policy restriction applies to all visitors to our hospital and clinic areas throughout the flu season. Restrictions on visitation will be evaluated regularly and will be altered as conditions change.
Nebraska Heart appreciates everyone’s diligence in supporting this new policy as we work to provide a safe environment for our patients, staff, family members and visitors.
